The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens Vegvesen) has  updated its «Vegvesen Trafikk» app, making it available in English.

This is excellent news for international drivers, working in the transport sector for both Norwegian and international companies. It allows them now to easily plan and navigate their routes while staying informed about current road conditions across Norway.

The app offers a comprehensive range of features that enable drivers to customize their journey. Users can select an entire route or specific segments and input their vehicle’s parameters, by specifying their vehicle type.

For heavy vehicle drivers, the app allows for detailed configurations. 

After selecting «Heavy Vehicle,» users can choose categories such as for example standard trucks, timber transport, abnormal transport, cranes, or modular vehicle combinations. Additionally, they can input their vehicle’s length, height, and the road types permissible based on weight restrictions. The app then calculates the optimal route, taking into account real-time road conditions.

The app also provides information on rest areas, including forest parking lots and parkings with facilities for truck drivers. Moreover, it highlights ongoing roadworks, detours, and toll points. 

In light of recent challenges on Norwegian roads, such as landslides and road closures due to severe weather like snow or floods, the app has become a crucial tool for ensuring safe and efficient travel.
