Planned Road Inspection Dates in European Union Countries for 2025

ROADPOL "Truck & Bus" operation

The European Road Policing Network  ROADPOL has scheduled three major «Truck & Bus» inspection operations for 2025. These operations will take place on the same dates across dozens of European countries, including Norway, Switzerland, and Luxembourg,  and will focus primarily on trucks and buses.

Inspection Dates

Each operation will last for a week, and are scheduled as follows:

  • February 17–23
  • May 5–11
  • November 17–23

The aim of these inspections is to ensure safety on European roads by thoroughly examining various aspects of transportation.

Officers will focus on the technical condition of vehicles, including dimensions, weight, and technical equipment, to ensure they meet safety standards.

Additionally, authorities will verify documents confirming driver’s qualifications, and check adherence to European driving and rest time regulations.

The functionality of tachographs, which monitor driving times and rest periods, will also be carefully reviewed to ensure compliance and prevent overwork.

Lastly, the inspections will address transport regulation compliance, with emphasis on the inspection of cargo and its documentation. Special attention will be paid to the transportation of dangerous goods, ensuring that all safety standards are upheld to protect road users and the environment.

Most Common Violations

According to ROADPOL data, the most frequently identified irregularities include:

  • Exceeding permitted speed limits,
  • Excessive working hours,
  • Incorrect tachograph settings,
  • Missing vehicle documentation,
  • Failure to use seat belts and other safety devices in buses.

These inspections are a crucial element of ensuring road safety and serve as a reminder to carriers and drivers of the necessity to comply with regulations.
