Norwegian Government with clarification on Russian steel.
On Tuesday, 17th of October, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made an important clarification to the prohibition against the purchase and import of iron and steel products in the sanctions against Russia.
The regulation has been changed to clarify that the purchase of sanctioned iron and steel products within Norway is permitted.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also clarified that the prohibition against the purchase and import of sanctioned iron and steel products does not apply to purchases and imports from the EU to Norway. In the EU, products that were imported before they were sanctioned, or during transition periods, can freely circulate within the EU market.
After that change and the government’s clarification, iron and steel products that can be freely traded between EU countries can also be purchased or imported into Norway. When importing from the EU, it is also not necessary to document the origin of the iron and steel components used in the processing of the product in a third country.
