Change in Norwegian national freight and coach transport licenses.

After January 1, 2025 anyone operating licensed freight or coach transport must have a new community license.

If companies providing such services on Norwegian roads do not have valid new permits from the start of the new year, they may receive a fine of NOK 60,000 if stopped during an inspection.

There are still 3,600 companies holding national goods and coach transport licenses. These companies must apply for a community license if they wish to operate permit required transport after the New Year.

The new community license is blue and can be used for both national and international transport.

All companies with a national goods and coach transport license should have received two notifications from Altinn regarding the license expiry date and instructions on what to do if they wish to continue license-required transport after the New Year. If they wait too long to apply to exchange their national license for a community license, Statens Vegvesen may not have sufficient time to issue a new license before the New Year.
The standard processing time is 2-4 weeks after receiving by Statens Vegvesen an application with all required certificates.

Companies applying to exchange their national license for a community license must attach the following documentation:

– Business registration certificate, including the organization number.
– Certificate of conduct for the general manager, transport manager, and chairman.
– Certificate for tax and VAT compliance.

These certificates must not be older than three months.
